Our goal is to teach youth about waste reduction and environmental responsibility. Many of our programs meet or correlate with Indiana’s Academic Standards. This brochure outlines those programs that best relate to the grade level standards for your class. Review the programs listed below and contact us to get your in-class visit scheduled. Green Cleaning (Limited)

Learn how to identify and properly use, store and dispose of toxic household cleaners.  And then…learn how you can reduce their use by making your own green cleaner.

Science: MS-PS1-3, MS-ESS1-3, MS-ESS3-4

Who Polluted White Lick Creek?

For those who love a mystery, this is a real “whodunit?”. Choose from a group of suspects and find out who polluted the creek and how. This program is about responsible disposal of Household Hazardous Wastes.

Packaging and Materials Engineering

Have you ever wondered about packaging and why it has changed over time? Students will spend some time being Materials Scientists and learning about properties and performance of different materials, how to work within constraints, and what the trade-offs of some materials might be.

Science: MS-ETS1-1, MS-ETS1-2, MS-ETS1-3

Pumpkin Chunkin’ STEM Activity

Using reused items like cans, popsicle sticks and rubber bands, students will construct a mini candy pumpkin catapult. Catapults will be tested for accuracy and power.

Programs Just for Fun:

Pop Bottle Science

Reinforce scientific concepts like gravity, states of matter, physical reaction, density, etc. in a fantastically fun and exciting way all while REUSING pop bottles! This is a great program to spark science fair project ideas. Warning: portions of this project will need to be done outside due to the high potential for a big mess!

Enviro-Survivor: A Game of Environmental Survivor

Students form tribes and execute mental and physical challenges related to care for their paradise island.

Are you interested in Reducing your school’s waste or Reusing and Recycling More? Join us on a journey through typical classroom/school waste and identify areas that need improvement and develop and implement a strategy for a solution.
